My name is Ilya Litvin. This is my second year as the Band Director and instrumental music teacher at Our Lady of Sorrows School. I direct two of the school’s bands: the Beginning Band and the Concert Band which at present boasts a combined membership of 40 students. My duties also include teaching small group and individual lessons to students in grades 4 through 8.
Our band began in 1935 and throughout the past decades several talented directors have paved the way for a program that is rich in tradition and popularity. I am very proud to start my work with such a historic program!
Our Band members have several opportunities during the year to display their musical talents: a Winter Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. We also participate in the Archdiocesan Elementary Band festival where we perform before judges. In addition, we also send students too many select events, such as the Metro District Honor Band competition and Annual Bishop DuBourg Grade School Honor Band Festival.
I look forward to starting our preparation for these wonderful musical events!
